The Airdrie Windwood Music Festival - Steampunk Edition presents a series of creative music performance projects by international artists gathering in Airdrie for a two-week residency. In this residency, musicians explore what it takes to create projects that celebrate sustainability, community, and arts in all its forms; whether that be in exploring local landscapes and drawing inspiration from Airdrie’s natural beauty, or working with produce grown by local farmers to create a meal that inspires a performance. These projects will be presented in public spaces around Airdrie including but not limited to parks, cafes, museums, and farms, and are designed by the participants in order to best present a collaboration between community members or aspects of a community and music.

After the roaring success of the "Masquerade" collaboration last year, Windwood is thrilled to work with the stunning, unique venue Brella Vida (2889 Kingsview Blvd SE #700, Airdrie) once again for this musical trip back to the 70's on Saturday, August 3 from 7-11pm.

Friday, August 9
Creep, Cryptograms and Kapustin
Time to get in gear for Festival III: Steampunk Edition with this high-octane opening concert featuring the entire Windwood Music Festival. We'll start our journey with Shostakovich's piano quintet, where the prolific composer spells out the initials of his own name in a musical cryptogram. Once that puzzle has been set, we'll jump to the future with Jessie Montgomery, Duke Ellington, Radiohead, and end with the wildly charismatic Kapustin concerto for violin and piano. Come dressed in your steampunk best at Bert Church Live Theatre (1000 East Lake Blvd NE, Airdrie) from 7-10pm. This is a ticketed event.

This concert is followed by a reception. Appetizers & desserts along with bar service. Meet the artists, the creative minds while enjoying delicious food. Bert Church Theatre will have bar service.

Saturday, August 10
The Windwood Music Festival presents its third season in Airdrie with this all-day steampunk extravaganza. Join the Windwood musicians along with local artists and musicians as we explore the world of steampunk through music, theater, arts and crafts, and other steampunk-themed elements. Bring your pets, bring your friends, bring food, and dive into steampunk with us! Dressing up in your steampunk best is encouraged! Bring a picnic, a chair, your family and friends & fur friends welcome. Kick back and and enjoy!
