How Attendees Can Easily Get Around Calgary

With more than 1,800 weekly flights from destinations throughout North America, Asia, and Western Europe, traveling to Calgary is a breeze. The city’s status as a globally connected hub is one of the main reasons it’s a top choice for big international gatherings like the 2025 Rotary International Convention. Calgary isn’t just easy to get to, though; it’s also easy to get around once you’re here.

As you prepare to meet in Calgary, here’s everything attendees need to know to navigate the city.

You’ll Cruise Downtown After You Land

Once the plane touches down, attendees are less than 20 minutes from the action that awaits downtown. With Uber, Lyft and taxi services just outside the doors, attendees can pick from a wide range of private transit options for the 18-kilometer trip.

For attendees who want to share the trip, Calgary Transit offers convenient bus service to and from the airport. There are two bus stops, one outside the domestic terminal and one outside international. Route 300 is a rapid transit bus that only travels to and from downtown.

You Can Hop Onboard — Without Hurting the Environment

Once attendees are downtown, they’ll be able to take the CTrain to travel from hotels to their meeting destination. The train stops at both the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre and the newly-expanded BMO Centre at Stampede Park. It also provides easy access to unique Calgary neighbourhoods like Bridgeland and Kensington

Calgary’s CTrain is more than just a way to travel; it’s a symbol of the innovative spirit of the Blue Sky City. It’s the only light-rail system in North America powered solely by wind energy. And an extra bonus – it's free to ride downtown.

Welcome to ‘A Walker’s Paradise’

Looking to get your steps in? Look no further than Calgary. Don’t take our word for how walkable it is; listen to the experts at Walk Score, which ranks areas of a city based on the ability to get to restaurants, shopping, parks, and entertainment without ever turning the key in the ignition. Downtown Calgary scores a near-perfect 98 for its level of pedestrian-friendliness.

It’s just as impressive when it comes to two wheels, too. Bird and Neuron — e-bike and e-scooter sharing companies — both operate in Calgary. For attendees who want to do more than commute, there are plenty of opportunities to adventure beyond downtown. With more than 850 kilometers (528 miles) of regional pathways, Calgary boasts the longest pathway network in North America.

Rain, Shine, or Snow — We’ve Got You Covered, Literally

When the city hosted the Olympic Games in 1988, Calgary became famous for its ability to welcome the world when it gets cold. No matter what season it is, Calgary can shield attendees from the elements with the downtown's expansive Plus 15 network of 86 bridges. With over 16 kilometers (10 miles) of climate-controlled walkways, attendees can get just about anywhere while staying warm.

Of course, we don't recommend simply staying inside in Calgary. In fact, when the snow does fall, attendees will get to experience the magic of the city in the winter

Getting around is easy. The only hard part for attendees will be narrowing down the list of what to do while they're in town.
