Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Tourism Calgary team has been working closely and diligently with our local emergency management officials at CEMA, The City of Calgary’s business recovery and support local task forces, our provincial and national strategic marketing partners at Travel Alberta and Destination Canada and our global networks through Destinations International and others.

We’ve gathered what we believe is the best and most agile thinking about response and recovery for visitation, business sustainability and community safety. From that, we’ve developed a framework to guide our efforts through the next phases of this pandemic. We believe our framework aligns with the Government of Alberta’s phased approach to reopening the economy, supports our industry partners as you make decisions about your businesses, and contributes to developing confidence among Calgarians as they start to re-enter the community and return to their favourite local experiences.

The speed of change through this crisis has been fierce, and this framework will evolve as new information emerges. However, it’s an important starting point.
