Tourism Calgary invites Calgarians to safely share why they #LoveYYC and support local during month-long virtual celebration
#LoveYYC 2020 to span the full month of November, featuring unique Calgary stories, compelling deals, interactive contests and more
Oct. 29, 2020 – Over the past four years, #LoveYYC was known as a single-day celebration where our city came together to foster civic pride and share stories about the people, places and experiences that make Calgary so unique. This year, an extended, month-long celebration will enable Tourism Calgary to support current health and safety measures, while inspiring the swell of community spirit that’s become associated with #LoveYYC through sharing unique neighbourhood stories, compelling deals, contests with locally-sourced prizes and more.
“Calgary’s undeniable community spirit is truly our superpower, and it has remained a continuous source of inspiration for all Calgarians throughout 2020,” says Cindy Ady, CEO Tourism Calgary. “That’s why we’re excited to be collaborating with our partners to safely celebrate a virtual #LoveYYC Month this year; amplifying the opportunities for Calgarians to support local businesses and share all the reasons why they love our remarkable city.”
As part of this year’s efforts to elevate #LoveYYC celebrations and provide a boost to local businesses, Tourism Calgary is collaborating with 13 of our city’s Business Improvement Areas to bring #LoveYYC Month to life. During each week of November, visitcalgary.com and all @TourismCalgary social channels will be used to highlight one Calgary quadrant – including the neighbourhoods, businesses, public art, community leaders and more that make each area so special.
In 2019, the single-day campaign successfully drove more than 32,300 referrals to Tourism Calgary partners and elicited countless stories that promote civic pride. This year, Calgarians are encouraged to get involved, join the conversation and support the success of #LoveYYC Month by:
- Sharing pictures and stories showing why they love their Calgary neighbourhood using the #LoveYYC hashtag, and following @TourismCalgary on all social channels to stay up-to-date on the stories, deals, contests and more that will be featured throughout November; and
-
Registering for – and using – the digital #LoveYYC Deals Pass to support local and save money at more than 50 local restaurants, attractions, hotels, tours and more.
