Calgary TELUS Convention Centre Safe Meeting

Venues

Meeting planners can be confident about the safety of their attendees at Calgary's two major conference centres. The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre (CTCC) and the BMO Centre at Stampede Park both achieved the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR accreditation. GBAC STAR helps organizations establish protocols and procedures, offers expert-led training and assesses a facility's readiness for biorisk situations. The program verifies that CTCC and BMO Centre have implemented the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfecting, and infectious disease prevention in their facilities.

Hotels

Calgary's hotels have implemented a wide range of safety measures, including touchless check-in options, occupancy limits, frequent cleaning schedules, mandatory protective equipment for employees and increased guestroom disinfecting practices. The Alberta Hotel & Lodging Association Safe Accommodation Promise holds hotels accountable for maintaining a safe environment for guests and staff, and provides assurance to guests that the hotel is a safe place to stay. Client Testimonials

Calgary has long been a trusted destination with event planners. Here is what event planners who have hosted events at the BMO Centre at Stampede Park over the past year have to say.

Rotary Club of Calgary at Stampede Park

"With the guidance and leadership of representatives from the BMO Centre at Stampede Park, our Rotary Club was able to resume modified, in-person meetings on September 10, 2020. The BMO Centre made appropriate arrangements for us to meet in a larger facility, with capacity for the number of people permitted by Alberta Health Services guidelines, and for the remainder of our members to attend virtually. The management team was extremely professional, ensuring the safety and comfort of our club members. They worked with us to continually improve the layout of the room and the overall function of the facility. They ensured the quality of the experience for both those in-person as well as those attending virtually was the best possible. I cannot say enough about the innovative approach this team took to making our members feel special during challenging times. Our members are eager to return to in-person meetings hosted by this team." - Penny Leckie, Rotary Club of Calgary at Stampede Park

Tattoo & Arts Festival

"The Calgary Tattoo & Arts Festival at BMO Centre at Stampede Park was the first convention in Canada since the pandemic began in March 2020. This event not only hosted over 200 tattoo artists and retail vendors, but over 5,000 guests attended over three days. The positive feedback from all involved in the event was astounding, the safety of our staff, vendors and guests was a top priority, and the procedures and protocols implemented by the BMO Centre at Stampede Park helped us not only produce a successful event, but a safe one that had no COVID-19 cases reported. All contact points from beginning to end of one's visit were considered, from daily temperature checks for all staff, artists and vendors, to contact tracing and contactless payment options at the box office, parking kiosk and concessions. The guest experience services were appreciated and helpful in directing the public and communicating with guests from the time they entered the park to arriving to our event." - Kevin Blackburn, Canwest Productions

NOEL Indoor Christmas Light Market

"Working with the BMO Centre at Stampede Park this year has been encouraging, professional and successful. They walked us through the extensive safety protocols they were initiating and were supportive and encouraging throughout the journey as we crated new ideas and alternative operation methods. They brought hope and practical optimism to a daunting and monumental task. Ultimately, the month-long event was very different, but simply achieving an event of such scale without any incident, health concerns, outbreaks or viral spread was the ultimate success. Having worked with many venues over the years, I am confident we would not have accomplished such with any other venue in North America." - Jonathan Houweling, Red Deer Events & Noel Christmas
