Start Your Stampede with Flour Rope Square! YAHOO!
At Fluor Rope Square, every day starts with our famous bacon pancakes served hot off a chuckwagon! We also have Stampede-style entertainment, and fun events for the whole family (and for everyone!). Highlights include the daily First Nations Parade, square dancing, musical acts, and the Old Time Rigs ride.
You can find Fluor Rope Square and the friendly volunteers of the Calgary Stampede Downtown Attractions Committee (DTA) on Stephen Avenue, between the blocks of 2nd Street SW and 1st Street SE.
Fluor Rope Square operates on:
- Saturday July 4th and Saturday July 11th, from 8:30 am - 12 pm
- Monday, July 6th through Friday, July 10th 2025, from 8:30 am - 1 pm
Please note: Fluor Rope Square does not operate on Sunday July 5th.
CHUCKWAGON BREAKFASTS
Daily 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Get your flapjacks and bacon hot off the griddles from the back of the authentic GMC Rangeland Derby Chuckwagons and Fluor Smokies at Fluor Rope Square. Fluor Rope Square serves up our famous bacon pancakes daily. The Chuckwagons are located throughout Fluor Rope Square, all along Stephen Avenue Mall.
ENTERTAINMENT & ACTIVITIES
Entertainment starts at 8:30 a.m. daily
Fluor Rope Square presents marching bands, dancers, singers, fiddlers, clowns, face painting, friendly mascots, and this year we have added something new: a country themed photobooth! Don’t miss our daily High Noon Hootenanny, featuring country music artists. Featured entertainment & activities over the week include:
- Everyday: High Steppin Daddy
- Saturday the 4th: Free Ice Cream courtesy of our friends Bonjour Québec
- Monday: Cole Malone
- Tuesday: Charley Tate
- Wednesday: Trevor Panczak
- Thursday: Maureen Murphy

- Saturday the 11th: Double Suede
Join us down at Fluor Rope Square! You could be invited to compete in the Lammle’s World Championship Hat Stomping Contest, the Fluor Great Western Flapjack Flip, or be sworn in as a honourary Calgarian.
OLD TIME RIGS
Tour downtown Calgary in a horse-drawn old time rig. DTA volunteers will be randomly giving out these free tickets to people at Fluor Rope Square this year. Ticket holders are then escorted from Fluor Rope Square at 9:30 a.m. to the departure point on 9th Avenue and 1st Street SW (EnCana Place across from the Palliser Hotel). The tour leaves at 10 a.m. and takes approximately one hour.
Note: this activity is not suitable for those with mobility restrictions.
FIRST NATIONS PARADE
Parade starts at 11:30 a.m. daily (weather permitting)
Members of the five tribes of Treaty 7, dressed in traditional regalia, proudly share their heritage and culture through dance, music, and commentaries in a Parade through Flour Rope Square. Come join them in the Friendship Dance.
SQUARE DANCING
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. daily
Kick up your heels and join our square dancers on Stephen Avenue between 1st Street SW and Centre Street. Experience isn’t necessary! With the help of our Fluor Square Dancers, anyone can learn to dance.
