Tourism Calgary: Industry Update (June 27)
Thank you to those of you who joined us on our industry conference call yesterday.
Our marketing and communication strategy is to keep our industry and, most of all, our travellers informed with up-to-date and consistent information about the destination.
As soon as the ‘State of Emergency’ is lifted, we will shift into ‘OPEN for business’ strategy, driving visitation to Calgary and working hard to help you all recover lost business due to this recent natural disaster.
Most of Calgary’s attractions, restaurants and accommodations are open for business with the status of the remaining flood-affected businesses changing on a daily basis. Below please find key information we are sharing with the industry – please share with your visitors and front line staff.
Online travel resources for visitors:
While the recovery continues, Calgary is ready to host travellers this summer. During this period, Tourism Calgary is working to inform residents and travellers with up-to-date information on tourism-related businesses through an online travel resource that can be found at visitcalgary.com.
Regular flood recovery updates, including emerging situations like the Bonnybrook Bridge rail derailment, will be provided on attractions, hotels, restaurants and shopping districts in close proximity to flood affected areas.
Up-to-date flood recovery information for visitors travelling throughout Alberta can be found at travelalberta.com.
The FAQ is designed to provide frontline staff with the answers they need for most visitor questions. Please let us know if we are missing critical answers and we will update the document and share with the community. Please share this with everyone who has direct contact with our visitors.
